Chester Jets' 21st BBL Championship win of the season, by 109-99 at Thames Valley Tigers on Saturday night, kept them six points clear of the chasing pack after Shawn Myers and Trey Moore inspired a 25-6 surge either side of the third quarter break to overturn a 15-point deficit and lead 85-81.
Myers scored 19 points in the final quarter towards his 35-point total, although Tigers' Josiah James led all scorers with 39.
Newcastle Eagles followed Friday night's 101-74 win over Leicester Riders by hammering the imploding London Towers 86-67 at Crystal Palace to stay second. T J Walker and Jeremy Hyatt dominated the home side's team of stars, who were expensively assembled by the coach Robbie Peers in the summer. Peers now has the added worry of a leg injury to playmaker Rod Brown.
Brighton Bears, who are negotiating a move to the 11,000-seat Brighton International Arena due to open in 2007, are third after an 80-74 win over Milton Keynes Lions with the new American, Cheyne Gadson, leading their scorers with 30 points.
Plymouth Raiders kept up the challenge for a play-off quarter-final place with their biggest win of the season when they beat Birmingham Bullets by 95-67.
