Anthony Joshua takes on Dominic Breazeale in this first defence of the IBF heavyweight title

Anthony Joshua makes his first defence of the IBF heavyweight world championship that he won earlier this year in defeating Charles Martin as he takes on another American in Dominic Breazeale.

The fight, which takes place on Saturday night, represents Joshua’s 17th professional bout since the Watford-born boxer won Olympic gold at London 2012. After defeating Martin in his last outing at the O2 Arena in London, Joshua returns to the London venue for a fifth consecutive match, having made the capital his home on his quest to win the world title.

With the IBF heavyweight title on the line, Joshua will hope to make light work of 30-year-old Breazeale, although the man nicknamed ‘Trouble’ does represent a step up from Martin and could pose a bit more of a threat to Joshua.

What time does it start?

The 10-fight card gets underway at 19:00, with Joshua not expected to walk to the ring until 22:00 providing there are no delays to the undercard. However, it’s expected that the first bell will ring closer to the 22:45 mark.

What channel is it on?

Fans unable to travel to the O2 Arena can watch the fight live on Sky Sports Box Office from 19:00, including coverage of all nine of the support bouts.

Who is on the undercard?

Once again, promoter Eddie Hearn has stacked the undercard full of British boxing talent to provide what should be an entertaining night of action. Chris Eubank Jr fights for the first time since he left Nick Blackwell in an induced coma after the two fought in March, with the British middleweight title on the line in his match with unbeaten Welshman Tom Doran.

George Groves is also in action against compatriot Martin Murray in what could prove to be a retirement/title decider. The winner will not only claim the WBA international super middleweight title but also put themselves in the frame to face WBA super middleweight world champion Felix Sturm, while the loser will, according to Groves, “probably never fight again”. Groves has failed to win a world title on three occasions, while Murray has had four unsuccessful tilts at world championship glory, three of which came at middleweight before moving up to the 12st division.
