Great Britain continued their improved form in the fourth game of the Tri-Nations Tournament at Beeston HC last night when they drew with Australia in a highly tactical game.

Another large crowd enjoyed an exciting first half although the game was mostly between the 25s. The second half opened dramatically with Australia winning a penalty corner in 25 seconds. But the resulting goal was disallowed and Britain returned to the attack. A long ball from Tom Bertram was carried on by Barry Middleton to win a corner. Penalty corner specialist Ben Hawes had come off the bench and although his first attempt was charged down, from a second award he made no mistake.

Australia stepped up the pace with their captain, Brent Livermore, driving his side forward and his perfect pass sent Michael Brennan weaving throughto win a penalty stroke in the 56th minute when his stick was tackled. Livermore gave Jimi Lewis no chance with the stroke. Although both teams created a number of late chances the game ended in deadlock.
