The much-awaited clash between the two great Asian sides provided some thrilling high-class hockey as India rallied to beat Pakistan 7-4 in their final pool game in the Champions Trophy in Amsterdam last night.

Pakistan's defeat rules them out of tomorrow's final with the possibility now of a repeat match for the bronze medal.

Trailing 2-3 at the interval, India pulled back to 4-4 midway through the second half before two goals in three minutes from 23-year-old Gagan Ajit Singh put India in the driving seat. Deepak Thakur collected his second of the game to seal the match.

Earlier, in the women's Four Nations event, Argentina opened their goal-scoring account with a 6-0 defeat of Germany. Ines Arrondo scored twice.

Germany's setback followed the news that their star striker Natascha Kellerh had twisted her ankle ligaments in training on Thursday, and is a doubtful starter for the European Cup.
