Boxing: George Groves splits with Frank Warren
George Groves has pulled out of his European super-middleweight title bout against Mohamed Ali Ndiaye on 16 March, amid speculation that he will be announced as the latest signing to promoter Eddie Hearn's roster today, ending his spell with rival Frank Warren.
"He has stated that he is not interested in boxing for the EBU title and would like to take his choice of fights in another direction," a statement from Frank Warren Promotions said. "I wish George all the best."
Elsewhere, Matthew Hatton was defeated by Chris van Heerden for the lightly regarded IBO welterweight title, losing by unanimous points margin in Johannesburg.
