Maria Sharapova and Floyd Mayweather steal the show as they unite to present award at the ESPYS in front of the who's who of the sporting world

The French Open champions and the boxing champion of the world were in good spirits as they took to the stage in Los Angeles

A host of famous sporting faces turned out for the 2014 Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly awards in Los Angeles, with tennis star Maria Sharapova and pound-for-pound boxing king Floyd Mayweather Junior stealing the show.

The pair were united to present the Best Game of the Year award, picked up by Auburn football coach Gus Malzahn for the Auburn v Alabama match in this year’s Iron Bowl.

Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded the Best International Athlete award although he was unable to attend, while United States’ captain Clint Dempsey was in attendance alongside his wife Bethany following the nation’s hugely popular campaign at the World Cup in Brazil.

There were a number of NFL stars at the ceremony as the Seattle Seahawks picked up the gong for the Best Team of the year, with star cornerback Richard Sherman name the Best Breakthrough Player of the Year.

San Francisco 49ers quarter-back Colin Kaepernick presented an award alongside model Chrissy Tiegen, while Nascar driver Danica Patrick was also one of the many famous hosts to grace the stage.

NBA superstar Kevin Durant was awarded the Best Male Athlete of the Year, with the UFC’s Ronda Rousey named the Best Female Athlete for her destructive performances this year.
