Motor Racing: Max Mosley has launched a defensive broadside at disgraced ex-Renault F1 team principal Flavio Briatore. Mosley spoke out in the light of remarks made by Briatore in leaked court documents relating to the Italian’s legal proceedings against the FIA.
Briatore will discover next month if his appeal against a lifetime ban from motor racing is to be overturned. Briatore claimed his punishment for “Crashgate” was as a result of Mosley “being blinded by an excessive desire for personal revenge”.
Mosley has insisted Briatore’s argument is “desperate and unsustainable”. Michael Schumacher has informed the Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo that there is a “strong possibility” he will return to grand prix racing with the new Mercedes-Benz team next season.
