The Big Picture: this event was always going to survive the snow...
Competitors in the women's FIS Cross-Country World Cup take part in a 4x5km relay in the French ski resort of La Clusaz yesterday.
The event was won by Norway, who came home in 58 minutes 38.7 seconds, nearly a full minute ahead of Italy in second with Sweden coming third. Set in the French Alps, La Clusaz will feature heavily should nearby Annecy see off the challenge of Munich and Pyeongchang and win the right to host the 2018 Winter Olympics next year. In the men's 4x10km relay, Switzerland edged out Russia by 30.8sec while the Norwegians were three seconds further back.
