Tony McCoy received a suspension of 10 days for failing to ride out for third place at Bangor yesterday. The champion jockey was deemed to have dropped his hands on the Jonjo O'Neill-trained Batten Down, a 7-2 chance for a novices' chase.
The six-year-old was out of contention after taking the final fence and when McCoy momentarily eased up he was beaten a short-head for third by the Tom Scudamore-ridden Finzi. After the race, Batten Down was found to have broken a blood vessel, while McCoy went on to ride a 17-1 treble.
