Royston Ffrench landed a 938-1 treble at Beverley yesterday, but also picked up a two-day ban for careless riding. Ffrench's wins came on Sennen Cove (15-2), Shamwari Fire (11-2) and Molotov (16-1) to end a 22-day winnerless spell for the jockey.

"Today has been very good," Ffrench said, "but I wouldn't say I've had a quiet spell. I've been knocking on the door with placed horses all the time but it's the winners that count."

Shamwari Fire and Molotov are trained locally at Catwick by Ian McInnes, who was also on the mark with Zawrak at Carlisle to complete his first three-timer at odds of 993.5-1. "I've never even had a double before," McInnes said. "A winner and second is the closest I've got. I had six runners today, which is half my yard. I went too long [143 days] without a winner so I'm chuffed to bits."

Paul Quinn had gone 252 days and 48 rides without a winner but his luck changed when he got Tim Easterby's Roman The Park home in front.

* Lack of rainfall has prompted officials at Wetherby to assess the track at 9.30am today for Thursday's meeting. The hurdles course is unaffected but the chase course may be unsuitable to race on due to firm ground. Should the chases be abandoned, two extra hurdles races will be run.
