Bradford Bulls say they are still confident of redeveloping their home at Odsal, despite losing £15m in council funding. The club had hoped to build a sports village on the site of the present stadium, but now admit that it might have to be scaled down or developed in stages.

"We understand why Bradford Council, like local authorities up and down the country, have had to make the decisions they have with their cash," said the Bulls' chairman, Peter Hood.

The former Bradford captain, Robbie Hunter-Paul, has been released from hospital after being taken off on a stretcher unconscious after a clash of heads while playing for Leigh against Sheffield Eagles.

"I have a little bit of nerve damage that will probably take a week to settle down," said the former Robbie Paul, who has added his wife's surname to his following his recent marriage.
