Ellis signs new deal to stay on Down Under

Gareth Ellis is to extend his successful stay in Australia by another two years. The England second-rower has agreed a new contract that will keep him at his National Rugby League club, Wests Tigers, until the end of the 2013 season. Ellis signed from Leeds last year and was his club's player of the year in his debut season.

The agent of Melbourne Storm stand-off Brett Finch says that he has an offer to join an unnamed Super League club immediately. The Storm are resigned to losing some of their best players following the exposure of their £1 million salary cap fraud.

Sean Long will bring some relief to injury-hit Hull by returning to the side at the Catalans Dragons this weekend after missing the last month with an ankle problem.
