Rugby player nearly has penis torn off in game (but straps it up for next fixture)

A rugby league player nearly had his penis torn off in a tackle.

Haydn Peacock needed 11 stitches to repair the damage, after playing for French team AS Carcassonne in February.

The 23-year-old Australian player continued the game and did not notice the severity of the damage until half time.

The tackle happened when an opposing player from St Esteve Catalans Dragons grabbed the second row player's groin.

“At half-time I was like, I’ve got to have a look, I checked on it and the skin was half ripped off and I was like, where’s the doctor?,” he French Footy website.

“In all of my career I’ve never heard of anyone having anything like that happen. I had to strap it all up for the next game.”

Despite his ordeal, Mr Peacock will not be wearing protection in future games.

“The coach wanted me to go out and buy a cup but I’m not going to play with a cup, I’m not going to be able to run.

“I just had to heavily strap it. I got the stitches out and it’s all sweet.”
