Hull have continued their team-strengthening by signing the London Broncos and New Zealand full-back, Richie Barnett, on a two-year contract. They have beaten Leeds and Bradford for the services of a player rated one of the best in the world in his position.

London have moved quickly to sign up a long-term replacement. Paul Sykes, who has been on loan from Bradford for two spells, has made his move permanent, signing a two-year deal.

Mark Hilton, one of the unluckiest players in the game with injuries, has won a new contract at Warrington. The Lancashire prop was only offered a one-year deal at the start of this season after missing a year with a broken arm.

Andrew Dunemann has a knee injury and will be out of Halifax's side against Bradford tonight. Paul Anderson is back in training for the Bulls, but will not be risked.

In tonight's other game, a trio of Wakefield forwards – Gareth Ellis, Paul Jackson and Damon Keating – are likely to be missing at St Helens.

Last year's Australian player of the year, Preston Campbell, has ended speculation that he might play in England next year by signing for Penrith from Cronulla, but the Newcastle prop, Clinton O'Brien, is considering an offer from Castleford.
