New contracts for Warrington duo

Warrington, who provide the latest stumbling block to St Helens' top-three ambitions, have re-signed two of their key players for next season.

Wolves full-back, Lee Penny, has agreed a new deal that will keep him at Wilderspool until 2003, while the French forward, Jerome Guisset, is tied up until 2004.

Tomorrow's team will show further evidence of Steve Anderson's restructuring, with the on-loan centres, Kevin Crouthers and Anthony Swann, both in line to make their debuts.

Saints, the defending champions, have Chris Joynt back after a rare absence, but have doubts over Paul Sculthorpe, Kevin Iro, Peter Shiels and Vila Matautia. A point behind Hull – who play at Wakefield on Monday – they cannot afford any more slip-ups if they are to avoid sudden-death rugby in the play-offs.

Damian Gibson will play for his current club against the one he will join next season when Halifax visit Salford. Gibson, who has signed a two-year contract with the City Reds, plays at full-back instead of Daryl Cardiss – who this week agreed to stay at The Shay – in a Halifax side which also features the youngest second-row partnership in the game in the teenagers Danny Tickle and Andrew Brocklehurst.

London Broncos, still clinging to the hope of catching Leeds in fifth place, have Marvin Golden and Michael Gillett back from injury to replace Paul Sykes and Robert Parker, who have been recalled from their loan by Bradford, against Huddersfield, who still trail Wakefield by three points in last place and whose need for a win is even more urgent.

League leaders Bradford have doubts over Joe Vagana and Scott Naylor for tomorrow night's meeting with Castleford, who are being linked with London's former Wigan utility player, Andrew Johnson.
