Round-Up: Wildcats fall short after John's missed conversion

Wakefield fell agonisingly short of pulling off a shock at Warrington when Isaac John's conversion attempt missed by the narrowest of margins. The Wildcats led for most of the game, only for the Wolves to get their noses in front near the end. Vince Mellars' try cut the margin to 32-30, but John could not snatch a draw.

Widnes came down to earth after last week's victory over Wigan with a 58-10 thrashing at Hull, for whom Danny Tickle scored four tries. The defeat leaves Widnes at the foot of the table.

St Helens' run without a win stretched to five games – their worst ever in Super League – with a 12-8 defeat at Bradford. The Bulls' first win at Odsal this season was engineered by Ben Jeffries, who excelled with his short kicking game.

Hull KR put in a strong performance in Perpignan, before going down 20-12 to the Catalan Dragons. Rovers led for most of the game, but Thomas Bosc's late try clinched it for the French side.

Huddersfield kept a firm hold on top spot with a 42-4 win over Castleford; Luke George was again the star turn, claiming his third hat-trick of the season. Leeds' Zak Hardaker also crossed three times, but the attention during their 56-16 win at Salford focused on their captain, Kevin Sinfield. His try and eight goals took his points tally beyond the club record for a career, set by Lewis Jones, who posted 2,920 before his retirement in 1964.
