The Wigan prop, Danny Sculthorpe, will miss the matches against London and Hull after being found guilty of striking.

Sculthorpe has been banned after being placed on report for an incident in which he appeared to make contact with Salford's Mark Shipway with a raised forearm.

The new Wigan coach, Ian Millward, has added two front-rowers, Wayne McDonald and Paul Prescott, to his squad for the home game against London tomorrow.

Despite the club's injury toll, with the loss for two months of centre David Vaealiki the latest blow, Millward claims he is not planning to make any short-term signings this season. "We probably won't bring in any players this year," Millward said.

The new Gold Coast club, admitted to Australia's NRL for 2007, is hoping to sign Jamie Lyon, the Test centre Millward brought to St Helens this year.

"We see this as an opportunity to bring Jamie back to the NRL," said Gold Coast executive director Michael Searle, who is flying to Britain next week.
