Leon Pryce has escaped any extra punishment from St Helens following his sentencing for assault last week.
The Test stand-off was ordered to do 100 hours' community service after admitting the attack, a sentence which the club's directors described yesterday as "sufficient punishment in itself". Saints have issued the player with a formal warning, saying that he had been "open, co-operative and truthful. He has shown genuine remorse for his action and recognition of the embarrassment which it has brought on himself."
The Rugby League said that it is still investigating the case and will make a statement shortly.
The Catalan Dragons' captain, Greg Bird, is to appeal against his conviction for recklessly wounding his girlfriend with a broken glass and lying about it to the police. Bird was found guilty of both offences in Sydney yesterday and is due to appear again for sentencing on 22 June.
He was freed on bail until then and will be able, at least for now, to resume his career with the Dragons, the club he joined after being refused a visa to play for Bradford.
The Catalans are trying to fly Bird back from Australia in time for Sunday's game against Leeds at Murrayfield, although there is a doubt about his availability after tearing his adductor muscle.
