Veteran Mackay joins Hull

Hull have confirmed the signing of the former Leeds and Bradford three-quarter, Graham Mackay, to complete their overseas quota.

Mackay, who was part of the Bradford Bulls side which won last season's Grand Final, has been playing rugby union with Leeds Tykes, but will start training with his new club on Monday, when the rest of the first team squad return from pre-season training in Lanzarote.

"Graham is a quality player and an experienced professional who will add another dimension to our squad," said Hull's director of rugby, Shaun McRae. "He will provide options that would otherwise not be available."

Although the Australian is now 33, his size and power, alongside another new signing in Toa Kohe-Love, will give Hull much greater physical presence in the back-line.

Meanwhile, McRae has promised to field the strongest possible side, including Kohe-Love and the new Australian forwards, Craig Greenhill and Sean Ryan, in Andy Farrell's testimonial at Wigan next Wednesday.

The veteran Australian scrum-half, Allan Langer, has moved a step closer to a comeback with the Brisbane Broncos, by being named in the squad for the pre-season trip to Fiji.

Langer, now 36, first retired in 1999, but came out of retirement to play two seasons for Warrington. He left before the end of last season, citing injury problems, but he has been training with his old team and contemplating a second return to action.

Leigh's prop forward, David Bradbury, will miss Sunday's Challenge Cup tie against Halton Simms Cross after being sent off for a careless high tackle in the league match against Rochdale 10 days ago.

Richard Cramer, the lawyer representing the Rugby League's director of rugby, Greg McCallum, has denied reports in Australia that McCallum has resigned from his post. A joint statement confirming his departure is expected within the next couple of days, however.

Super League clubs have given their approval to the London Broncos' proposal to play their home match against Warrington on 22 June in the French city of Carcassonne. Switching the fixture will enable London's new home at Griffin Park to be re-seeded.

The Broncos have played the Newcastle Knights in a full-scale practice match as part of their training camp in Australia. The game was part of the Knights' preparation for their World Club Challenge against Bradford next Friday, but London's coach, Tony Rea, described it as "invaluable".

The Broncos will play the Canberra Raiders on 2 February before flying home.
