In Estonia Britain’s two top Laser sailors, reigning Olympic gold medallist Paul Goodison and Skandia GBR teammate Charlotte Dobson both secured silver at the European championship.

Goodison narrowly missed out on taking a sixth straight European crown missing out to Croatia ’s winner Tonci Stipanovic on the final day of action.

But for Laser Radial sailor Dobson, her silver in Tallinn marks her first time on the European Championship podium and, coupled with her silver at the ISAF Sailing World Cup event in France five weeks ago, is a timely run of form ahead of the Laser Radial World Championships which will be held on the Helensburgh sailor’s home waters in Largs next month.

“I’m really, really pleased,” Dobson commented. “I think I was only second by the skin of my teeth in the end and would have been really disappointed if I’d not finished in the top three after being thereabouts all week.

Former world champion Ian Williams faces Sweden's Bjorn Hansen in the semi-finals of the Korean leg of the World Match Race Tour. Reigning world champion Adam Minoprio went out to Torvar Mirsky, who meets Mathieu Richard in the other semi.
