Team GAC Pindar’s skipper Ian Williams finishes top of Match Race Germany qualifying

Williams scores 10-1 to finish first with Phil Robertson in second

Chasing a fifth Alpari world match racing title, Team GAC Pindar’s skipper Ian Williams has finished top of Match Race Germany qualifying rounds, meaning a bye to the Sunday’s semi-final. His score of 10 – 1 was made curious only by the fact that his only loss was to Switzerland’s Nicolai Sehested, who finished 12 of the 12 taking part.

The other three places will be contested between Phil Robertson (2), Bjorn Hansen (3), Mathieu Richard (4), Keith Swinton (5), David Gilmour (6), and Taylor Canfield (7).

Williams commented: "I’m feeling great and the team is really sailing well. We have put ourselves in a fantastic position to retain the Match Race Germany title we won last year. Let’s all hope for a little more wind in Langenargen over the next few days."
