Sheffield Steelers have moved 11 points clear at the top of the Sekonda Superleague following their fourth successive win on Sunday night.

Mike Blaisdell's side eased past Cardiff with a 3-1 victory as Devils suffered their fifth defeat in 10 games. Jason Weaver gave Sheffield an early lead, the only cheer for the home side coming when Steve Thornton levelled midway through.

But goals from Dennis Vail and Rick Brebant either side of the second interval ensured Sheffield took a maximum six-point weekend haul following Saturday night's home win over Newcastle Jesters.

For the north-east side it was a miserable 24 hours as they followed up the 3-2 defeat at Sheffield with a 4-1 reverse at Nottingham Panthers. They led through Matt Oates after 17 minutes, but Jamie Leach equalised in the second period.

Newcastle were undone in the final period when P C Drouin scored twice in two minutes, with David Struch rounding off the win.
