WWE Wrestlemania 30 - The Miz interview: 'Daniel Bryan deserves his success, he works hard for it'

The Miz will be participating in the 30-man Andre the Giant Battle Royal in New Orleans

The Wrestlemania XXX main event is currently Randy Orton defending his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Batista plus one of either Daniel Bryan or Triple H, and according to The Miz, should the underdog Bryan prevail against all odds on the grandest stage of them all it will create an "incredible moment".

Mike “The Miz” Mizanin, of course, knows a thing or two about headlining the “The Showcase of the Immortals”. It was back at Wrestlemania 27 when he beat John Cena to retain his WWE Championship belt.

This year’s flagship show will begin with Bryan against Triple H, the vice president of the company, with the stipulation being that should the popular Yes! cheerleader overcome the “cerebral assassin” he will be given the chance to enter the main event as the third opponent in a triple threat contest for the title.

“As a person that has main-evented Wrestlemania I know of the immense pressure that is on you,” The Miz told the Independent.

“Not only in front of 70, 80, 90 thousand people live but there are billions watching world wide to see what you do.

“If Daniel Bryan can overcome Triple H and then defeat Batista and Randy Orton in the triple threat it will be an incredible moment for everyone.

“[But] to get there he will have to beat three of the top Superstars in the WWE ever and take them out.”

The Miz was Bryan’s storyline NXT mentor when he debuted in the company back in 2009, and should he win at Wrestlemania will The Miz feel in any way responsible?

“I will take all of the credit,” he said in jest.

“[But] he deserves it and works hard for it.”

But before the main event gets under way, The Miz will have pressing matters to attend to, namely the inaugural Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, a 30-man over-the-top-rope contest in tribute to the late grappling giant, where the victor will make “history” by becoming it’s first ever winner. The Miz is preparing for the match in the only way he knows how - by “throwing everything in sight over the top rope”.

The bout was recently announced by the host of the event, the legendary Hulk Hogan, and it’s an impressive field of contestants – with plenty of former heavyweight champions itching to get their hands on the trophy.

“Think about some of the Superstars that are already in this match,” The Miz said, and there could still be some surprises as the full 30-man list has not yet been revealed. Greats of the squared circle Chris Jericho and Rob van Dam will reportedly be participants.

“[There is] Me, a former WWE champion, Alberto Del Rio, a former WWE champion, Christian, a former WWE champion, The Big Show, Mark Henry…some of the biggest names in WWE history are in this over-the-top-rope Battle Royal. It will be something really special.”

The Miz also cannot wait to see his hero receive a tribute at Wrestlemania XXX, and it’s not Hulk Hogan or Andre the Giant.

The Ultimate Warrior will be among the inductees to the prestigious WWE Hall of Fame, alongside Scott Hall, Lita, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, and even Mr T. He’ll be there in New Orleans, even if it’s not by plane.

“Growing my favourite was always the Ultimate Warrior,” The Miz said. “I’d run around the house with the armbands on.”

For the veteran of nine reality TV shows, including MTV’s The Real World, a triumph in the Battle Royal will go a long way in bringing “The Awesome One” back to the summit as the company enters it’s recently-coined “reality era”.
