The British Open winner Tom Lehman shot two under par yesterday over the closing nine holes to win the US$1m PGA Grand Slam of Golf in Poipu Bay, Hawaii.

Lehman started the abbreviated round with a one-stroke lead over the US Open winner Steve Jones and the Masters champion Nick Faldo. He birdied the 394-yard 10th hole to open a two-stroke gap, and added another birdie on the 18th. Coupled with his eight-under 100 over the first 27 holes on Wednesday, Lehman won the $400,000 winning cheque by finishing the 36-hole event with a tournament- record 10-under 134 with rounds of 68 and 66. The field of four players - winners of this year's majors - had to play 27 holes on Wednesday because bad weather forced the postponement of Tuesday's scheduled 18 holes.
