The 98th PGA Championship gets underway on Thursday with the final major of the year up for grabs before all eyes turn towards the Ryder Cup, with Jason Day, Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth attempting to win their first major of 2016 at the final attempt.

The prospect of the trio, who started the year as the top three in the world, going 12 months without a major title was almost unthinkable after McIlroy claimed the last two majors in 2014 before Spieth and Day claimed three of the four on offer in 2015.

However, after Danny Willett won The Masters back in April and Dustin Johnson finally got over his major curse to win the US Open and put himself in the mix for the world No 1 spot, chances of success suddenly appeared slim. Those opportunities reduced even further when Henrik Stenson lifted the Claret Jug after winning The Open earlier this month, which leaves just the US PHA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club in New Jersey on offer.

What time does it start?

The first groups get underway on the first and tenth tee simultaneously at midday BST [0700] on Thursday 28 July.

Where can I watch it?

The PGA Championship will be shown live on Sky Sports 4 from 18:00 BST [13:00 ET] on Thursday and Friday and 16:00 BST [11:00 ET] on Saturday and Sunday.
