The British Open: 20 years of champions

Following its regular rotation, this year's British Open Championships takes place at St. Andrews, the historic 'home of golf'.

The course was first used for the competition, considered one of the world's most prestigious golf prizes, in 1873, but records show the first origins of the game dating back to 1552.

This years Open, which starts today, will be the 24th championship to be held at St. Andrews.
