World No 1 packs up her putter
Just as one World No 1 is swinging back into action another yesterday quit the game.
Lorena Ochoa, the world No 1 women's golfer, has surprisingly announced her retirement. Ochoa, who is just 28, confirmed her decision yesterday after media reports in her home country of Mexico said she was about to step away from the game to concentrate on her family and her charities.
Ochoa, who has been the world No 1 for the last three years, will hold a press conference on Friday. She was married in December to Andres Conesa, the CEO of Aeromexico airline.
The men's No 1 Tiger Woods, of course, is back in action after his much publicised time-out.
