Old Loughtonians and West Witney will take their places in Division Two of the National League after the closely contested round robin play- offs by the territorial League winners which took place at Milton Keynes yesterday.

In the morning West Witney came from behind with two second-half penalty corner strikes from Sally Hartwell to beat Old Loughtonians 2-1 after Sally Tredgett had opened the scoring in the 15th minute.

With the former England international Clare Harvey and Debbie Moulton dominating the midfield Old Loughts should have won comfortably in spite of their woeful penalty corner drill.

Val Robinson, who won the first of her 147 England caps way back in 1963, showed glimpses of her old magic for Blackburn, but although they won their last game against West Witney 1-0 they were unable to become the first team to regain their National League status, Witney going through with a better goal difference.
