Hockey: Bracknell's first
BRACKNELL, from the Second Division of the Women's National League, have not been scoring many goals this season but will tomorrow morning score a first when they become the first club to fly to a League fixture. The Berkshire side, away to Sunderland Bedans, fly to Newcastle thanks to generous support from their sponsor, Burton's Biscuits, writes Bill Colwill.
For coach John Barrett, who has decided after five years to seek pastures new at the end of the season, the priority tomorrow afternoon must be goals.
Two First Division teams who have been busy in the transfer market this season, Ealing and First Personnel Sutton Coldfield, clash at Barclays Bank in what could be the day's outstanding fixture. Ealing will be hoping that their New Zealand winger, Kate Trolove, who last time out in her first league game scored both goals, will be able to make inroads into Sutton's solid defence.
League leaders Ipswich will be looking for a win at Clifton to ensure that they go into the mid-season break clear of second placed Hightown, who face a tough visit to Leicester Balsam.
