Steelers stifled

Sheffield Steelers bravely went down 5-3 to the Slovenian champions Olympija Hertz in Holland yesterday after producing a superb third period fight- back in their Europa Cup quarter-final round-robin tie. Steelers' hopes of snatching a last-gasp draw were dashed when their skipper, Ron Shudra, was penalised late on for slashing. Tomaz Vnuk converted the power-play chance with less than a minute to go.
