Fabrizio Ravanelli scored twice in four minutes to help Juventus knock Parma off the top of Serie A with a 3-1 victory in yesterday's top of the table match. Juventus, unbeaten in eight games, have a two-point lead and a game in hand over Parma.

Dino Baggio gave Parma the lead in the 57th minute, beating Angelo Peruzzi with a powerful, angled shot. Juventus equalised within four minutes when the Parma goalkeeper Giovanni Galli, a first-half substitute for the injured Luca Bucci, misjudged a cross and let the ball sail into the net.

Ravanelli put Juventus in front in the 70th minute and scored his second from the penalty spot after a foul on Vialli. To complete a bad start to the New Year for Parma, Fernando Couto was sent off for his second bookable offence.

Abel Balbo's eighth goal of the season and a late strike from Francesco Totti lifted Roma into third place with a 2-0 victory over Bari. Fiorentina, third at the start of the day and missing Gabriel Batistuta, who was suspended, slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Torino. Vanni Pessotto celebrated Torino's 2,000th match in Serie A with his first goal in the division.
