Judo: Britain draw medal blank
Britain had a dismal start to its international competitive year, drawing a complete blank after three days at the Tournoi de Paris. There was not even a sniff of a medal.
It was not entirely due to the team being outclassed in this event which, attracting 30 countries, is like a mini-world championships.
Graeme Randall, the Scottish light-middleweight, was comfortably ahead against France's Stephane Nomis, but threw it away by repeatedly dropping on his knees to incur penalties.
Nicola Fairbrother - back for the first time in a major international after a shoulder re-build - won her first fight but she was easily dispatched by Cuba's Druilis Gonzalez.
