Korfball: European championships - Raynes Park

This weekend the first European outdoor korfball championship is being held in south-west London and six countries join Great Britain, including Belgium, the world champions. Korfball is a skilled, passing game which has similarities to netball in that players cannot run with the ball and basketball with same method of scoring. However, the court (60m x 30m) is much larger and the basket, set 11ft 8in from the ground, is smaller with no backboard, requiring precise shooting from the mixed teams of four men and four women. Great Britain fancy their chances if it is windy.

Pool B: Belgium v Czechoslovakia (10.30am); Great Britain v Belgium (1.10pm); Great Britain v Czechoslovakia (4pm). Sunday Play-off matches 12.45 and 2.15pm. Final 3.45pm.
