Letter: Lamenting the retiring types

Sir: I read the eulogies in favour of Michael Jordan (The Independent, 7 October) and acknowledge that he must have been fairly proficient in some minority sport. Imagine my astonishment this morning (8 October) when I glance at the back page and see that he is likely to be the next manager of Celtic ('Jordan favourite to be Brady's successor'). Is the timing coincidence? Is the surname coincidence? Are they one and the same? Probably, judging by one's ball-handling skills at Anfield for Scotland against Wales in the dim and distant past.

Yours faithfully,

ROBERT FISHER
