McGhee moves

Mark McGhee ended Leicester City's search for a new manager last night after a sudden change of mind. McGhee originally said that he was staying at First Division Reading, but he has decided to leave Elm Park, along with his assistant, Colin Lee, and Mike Hickman, the youth coach.

Graham Taylor, the manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers, has issued a "hands off" warning to clubs interested in David Kelly, the Republic of Ireland striker. Kelly has been linked with a £450,000 move to Stoke City.

Birmingham have made a new offer to Stockport, in an effort to finally seal the on-off deal to capture Kevin Francis. The Midlands club are willing to pay £400,000 immediately, with a further £400,000 once he has made 60 appearances for the Blues.

Joe Jordan, the Bristol City manager, has been charged by the Football Association with bringing the game into disrepute. He was reported by the referee for an outburst during the game against Grimsby.

Rick Parry, chief executive of the Premier League, has pledged the full commitment of a special commission of inquiry which opens today to probe questions of financial irregularities. George Graham, the Arsenal manager, will be asked about allegations that he received a payment of £285,000 in the deal for John Jensen.
