Nigel Mansell just missed out on provisional pole position for today's IndyCar race in Vancouver. Robby Gordon got the better of Mansell in a back-and-forth struggle, clocking a best lap of 54.570secs. Mansell was three-tenths of a second slower. 'I was jockeying with Robby Gordon the whole time,' Mansell explained, adding: 'He timed his best run perfectly at the end.' The IndyCar series points leader Al Unser Jr did not participate in the qualifying session because of a suspected case of food poisoning.
