Campbell-Walter thrilled to have Silverstone result confirmed

The Maserati MC12, Vitaphone Racing of Michael Bartels and Andrea Bertolini headed the timesheets in the first free-practice session of the third-round of the FIA GT1 World Championship, taking place in Brno, Czech Republic this weekend. The British based Nissan GT-R, Sumo Power of Michael Krum and Peter Dunbreck was in second spot with the Ford GT of Romain Grosjean and Thomas Mutsch in third.

Campbell-Walter was pretty happy with his first mornings work after a wet start. "A tricky start and quite greasy conditions, We had a slight problem with tyre pressures but we got to the bottom of that. Then it dried up and Warren went out first on the slicks. He's not been here before and needs to learn the track. So I had just a couple of laps at the end."

Despite having to run with a success ballast of 40 kilos for the race-win Campbell-Walter felt that the car was progressing well throughout the session. "The car felt OK, a bit of fine tuning to do still, the balance doesn't feel too bad, we have a bit of over-steer on the power on the exits but we'll get to the bottom of that. I wouldn't say that we are not feeling the weight, but it's there and its probably slowing us down, but as a driver you drive with whatever you've got. We are relatively happy and I'm sure that we'll improve the car."

After an appeal to the FIA over the revised Silverstone result, which handed the Nissan the race win, was turned down yesterday, Campbell-Walter was delighted to add his name to the illustrious role call of past Tourist Trophy winners. "I'm very pleased to have the result from Silverstone result confirmed. To win the Tourist Trophy is fantastic, and also to have the points. It is amazing to have Nissan's fist Championship win and great credit must go to everyone involved in the project, its a fantastic result."
