Motorcycling: Cadalora beats Doohan to pole

Luca Cadalora, the local favourite, took pole position for today's Italian 500cc Grand Prix in Mugello, with the championship leader, Michael Doohan, in third place. The Australian, seeking to be the first man since Giacomo Agostini in 1972 to win five successive races, led after the first round, but Cadalora and the American Doug Chandler beat him in yesterday's heat and humidity.
