Motorcycling: Isle of Man Formula One washout
Heavy rain caused the Isle of Man TT Formula One race to be abandoned for the first time in 13 years. Leading riders, including the favourite Steve Hislop, pulled out after only one of the scheduled six laps. Rain had begun to fall on various parts of the 38-mile course as the event started, and then it poured down.
