Norwich City have signed the 29-year-old midfielder David Rocastle on a month's loan from Chelsea and are to give a trial to Neil Moore, the Everton defender.

Sheffield Wednesday have spent pounds 100,000 on Moises Garcia Leon, a 25-year- old striker from the Spanish Second Division club, Leganes.

Derby County are giving a 10-week trial to Marino Rahmberg, a striker from the Swedish club Degerfors IF.

Motherwell yesterday signed the striker Owen Coyle in a pounds 350,000 cash- plus-player deal with Dundee United. The Fir Park midfielder Jamie Dolan going to Tannadice in exchange.

John Toshack, the Deportivo La Coruna coach, has denied that he is to leave the Spanish club. The former Liverpool player said that comments made in conjunction with his contract expiring in June had been misinterpreted.

Bournemouth have called in administrators after a winding-up order over unpaid tax was delayed in the High Court. The Second Division club have debts of pounds 2.5m and owe pounds 231,000 in PAYE, but the court appearance in Liverpool was postponed after the club asked for more time to restructure their finances.

The Association inquiry into last month's riot at Bristol City will take place at Ashton Gate on 22 January. City have been charged with failing to control spectators after the crowd violence sparked off by Peter Beadle's injury-time equaliser for Bristol Rovers on 15 December.
