Bristol City have signed Shaun Taylor, the Swindon centre-half, for an initial pounds 50,000 plus another pounds 50,000 depending on appearances.

The former Blackburn goalkeeper, Bobby Mimms, has joined Preston after a brief spell on the books at Crystal Palace.

Huddersfield have signed the 25-year-old Bolton midfielder Wayne Burnett, formerly with Orient, Blackburn and Plymouth, on loan with a view to a permanent pounds 100,000 deal.

The Newcastle striker Darren Huckerby has joined Millwall on a month's loan. The 21-year-old, who joined Newcastle from Lincoln for pounds 250,000 last November, has yet to start a Premiership match for the Magpies.

Hearts' Scottish Coca-Cola Cup tie with Celtic has been selected by Sky Sports for live television coverage on Tuesday 17 September.

Sky Sports will screen live coverage of Blackpool's Coca-Cola Cup second round first-leg tie against Chelsea on Wednesday 18 September.

Helsingborgs' Swedish striker, Martin Pringle, has signed a four-year contract with Portugal's Benfica after passing a series of medical tests. Pringle, 25, will remain with Helsingborgs while the Swedish side remain in the UEFA Cup.
