OLYMPICS / Barcelona 1992: Synchronised Swimming: Buoyant Babb-Sprague
KRISTEN Babb-Sprague, of the United States, and Sylvie Frechette, of Canada, turned the solo synchronised swimming into their own private confrontation, with the American eventually taking the gold medal.
Babb-Sprague, the silver medallist behind Frechette in last year's world championships, turned the tables by the narrowest of margins (0.131pts) on her farewell appearance in the sport.
Frechette, who was the last to go, scored the highest marks yesterday, but Babb-Sprague had gained just enough of an advantage in the previous day's figures.
Britain's Kerry Shacklock remained in seventh place.
