OLYMPICS / Barcelona 1992 -Update: Judo: Women's test hurdle
IT is not just the drugs testing which is catching the athletes out, the pregnancy tests are proving a bit of a hurdle as well.
Women taking part in judo and taekwondo - a demonstration event - have to undergo pregnancy tests because they might receive a blow to the stomach. 'Two or three' have been given the good (or bad) news, according to Luis Mir, who runs the Village's medical facilities.
Had they arrived at the Village much earlier, this might never have happened. Mir has distributed more than half of his stock of 90,000 condoms to the 10,000 competitors - free, after they protested at having to pay.
