OLYMPICS / Barcelona 1992: Weightlifting: Dimas above row
PYRROS DIMAS of Greece won one of the closest ever weightlifting competitions to take the light-heavyweight gold.
But his efforts were overshadowed by a public row in the Unified Team, which ended with the bronze medallist Ibragim Samadov stalking off the rostrum at the ceremony and rejecting his medal. Samadov was later banned for life. His team-mate Altymurat Orazdurdyev had been dropped minutes before the start of the competition.
For Britain, David Morgan finished 15th in his third Olympics with 345kg and Andrew Callard (left) 20th with 325kg.
