London 2012 organisers have been forced to suspend their ticket re-sale process for this summer's Olympics after website problems.

The process launched today was meant to allow people with unwanted tickets to put them up for sale.

However, the computer system ran into problems and a London 2012 spokesman confirmed that they had suspended the process of making tickets available for re-sale.

Sports fans trying to buy tickets were able to click onto apparently available events, but after several minutes were then told these were not available.

The London 2012 spokesman said this was due to tens of thousands of people trying to buy the tickets, coupled with a delay in those tickets being removed from the system once they had been purchased.
