When is it?

The men’s 200m final will be held on Thursday 18th August 2016.

What time will it be on?

The race will start at approximately 2.30am Friday 19th August BST (22.30pm local time in Rio).

Where can I watch it live?

BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Four, the BBC red button and the BBC Sport website will have live coverage of all events at Rio 2016.

Who are the contenders?

Usain Bolt is expected to dominate the 200m as he defends his title in the 100m and 200m. This is the second of three events that Bolt needs to win to complete his planned “treble treble” of Olympic titles.

Remember when…

Usain Bolt became the first man to retain both Olympic sprint titles after he won the men’s 200m at London 2012.

Bolt matched Michael Johnson's then world-record time from the Atlanta Games of 19.32 seconds and held off training partner Yohan Blake, who won silver.

His final time was 19.32 seconds, 0.13 seconds slower than his world record.

What’s the world record?

19.19 seconds (Usain Bolt, 2009)
