PROSPECTS for tomorrow's meeting at Carlisle have deteriorated and the course will hold an inspection at 4.30 today.

The course has been waterlogged after heavy rain and snow and clerk of the course Jonnie Fenwicke-Clennell, who walked the track yesterday afternoon, reported the going as heavy, soft in places.

lFiddlers Pike, the oldest horse to run this season, has been retired. Rosemary Henderson's 17-year-old was fifth in the 1994 Grand National. Henderson said: "He's off team chasing on Sunday and is also going eventing."
