MICK CHANNON achieved the first Group race success of his career when Great Deeds justified favouritism in yesterday's Ballyogan Stakes at Leopardstown.

Three English-trained runners dominated throughout, Paul Eddery on Great Deeds beating Jack Berry's pair Sabre Rattler and Palacegate Episode but having to survive a stewards' inquiry.

Trapped on the far rails approaching the final furlong as the Berry pair dominated, Eddery switched to his left, and although crossing the fourth-placed My-O- My in the process, Channon's filly quickened smartly to win decisively.

After an anxious wait, the trainer was able to celebrate the Group Three win, though Eddery received a caution for careless riding from the stewards. Channon may let Great Deeds take her chance in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot next week.
