Racing: Culhane concussed as filly falls
The rider Tony Culhane was injured in an accident on Costa Verde in the Gods Solution Handicap at Catterick yesterday.
The 25-year-old suffered concussion and minor lacerations when the filly stumbled about a furlong and a half out while racing among the backmarkers.
Culhane was taken to the nearby Duchess of Kent Military Hospital for treatment.
Jason Weaver, who is preceded only by Lanfranco Dettori in the Flat jockeys' championship, was lucky to escape serious injury when Longcroft reared over in the paddock and unseated him before the Toytop Conditions Stakes. Weaver banged a knee but was otherwise unhurt.
