Racing: Dunwoody poised to pass Francome
A TREBLE for Richard Dunwoody at Wincanton yesterday took his career total to 1,136 winners, two short of John Francome's tally. Francome is second in the list of most-successful jump jockeys behind Peter Scudamore.
Dunwoody hit the treble through McGillycuddy Reeks, Straight Talk and Nagobelia and has four rides at Cheltenham today. He is aiming to equal Francome's total over the next couple of days. 'If I do, it will be another milestone,' said the jockey. 'But my main aim, as always, is to stay sound and in one piece and ride more winners.' His Wincanton treble puts him on 31 winners for the season, five behind Adrian Maguire.
Sim Harris, 48, who has covered several wars as a sound recordist and cameraman for the BBC and was a hostage in the Iranian Embassy siege, has been appointed as the managing director of Racecourse Technical Services.
